Do you need your C1 Advanced? This 12-week online C1 course gives you in-depth exam training and takes your English to the next level. You’ll learn the exam skills and knowledge of English you want to succeed in the exam, and to feel confident about using your C1 English in a way that matters to you.
The innovative C1 Advanced course is based on more than 15 years’ experience working with Cambridge Advanced and IELTS students. Each week you have three hours of live class per week: a dynamic and communicative two-hour class, as well as a 1-hour session that gives you the best exam strategies to ensure your success in the test. You’ll also have regular assessed exam tasks, full mock exam practice, and 1-to-1 coaching sessions to help you reach your goals in your way.
What’s included in the 12-week C1 course?
THE LIVE SESSIONS
Each 1.5-hour session is focused on real English you can use to achieve success in the exam (and real life). As well as exploring and practicing a wide variety of language and exam skills, each session also includes speaking exam practice and feedback, making sure you’re able to excel in this part of the test.
THE EXAM EXPERT SESSIONS
Each 1.5-hour session will explore at least two parts of the exam in detail, helping you understand what you have to do and the best strategies to do it, and give you a chance to practice each part of the exam in class.
THE RESOURCE BANK
You’ll have lifetime access to the Google Drive folder with extensive resources to help you continue developing your English and practice the exam, along with the popular Quizlet study sets.
COMPLETE MOCK EXAMS
You have the opportunity to complete up to 10 C1 Advanced mock exams during the course, including simulated speaking exam practice. Each mock exam comes with full corrections and an action plan to help you improve your score.

This intensive course is available on a 1-to-1 on-demand basis, meaning the course can start whenever you’re ready.
Currently, there is availability for live sessions on weekday mornings from 08:00 CET to 12:30 CET, as well as some Friday afternoons.

Course material
All course material is included in the course fees. You can choose to use a physical copy or to work digitally, and will receive this before the start of the course.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My local language school says I need 12 months for C1 – can I really do it in just 12 weeks?
Absolutely. Many language schools use an approach where you work through each page of a book as class, often exercise by exercise, in a big group of students. That takes a long time. In this course, we use structure self-study tasks that allow you to work with material quickly and effectively, and means our classes can be much more dynamic and interactive than many face-to-face lessons.
Do I need a B2 certificate to be able to do this course?
Not at all. During your consultation, we’ll check to make sure you have an appropriate level for the course, but there’s no requirement for you to have a B2 qualification.
Is this a Cambridge or IELTS course?
Both! Although the course is structured using Cambridge C1 Advanced material and practice, the assignments and exam practice can be easily adapted to you if you need to sit the IELTS (Academic or General) instead of Cambridge C1 Advanced.
How much time do I need to spend each week?
In addition to the three hours of live classes each week, you are expected to complete at least two hours of private self-study. This will included the weekly assignments as well as the guided self-study tasks in preparation for the live session. It’s important to be able to keep on track with the self-study elements of the course, which are just as important as our live sessions. Your teacher will help you create a study plan during the first week of the course.
What happens if I miss a class, or can’t make an assignment deadline?
Life does get in the way sometimes, doesn’t it? One of the benefits of a 1-to-1 course is that it offers flexibility. If you can’t attend a scheduled class you should let Ben know as soon as possible, who will do everything he can to reschedule the class to a time that suits you both.
If that isn’t possible, don’t fret! There are other options available, such as making future classes longer, having several express sessions instead, or even having an asynchronous session which takes place over Google Docs, Padlet, or WhatsApp!
How will I know if I’m making progress towards C1?
You will have four full mock exams during the course to help you track you progress according to the C1 Advanced exam, in addition to four private tutorials with your teacher. These will help you track your progress and set manageable targets for continuing through the course.
The course is designed to give you everything you need to prepare for the C1 exam, including a minimum of 70 hours of guided study time over the course. On paper this is enough to help you master C1. In practice, learning a language is not an exact science. The mock exams and tutorials are designed to help you take control of your learning and ensure that, as far as possible, you get the most from your time on the course.

This meeting will give you the chance to ask all the questions you need to and decide if the course is the right one for you.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- If you’re keen to study with a friend or colleague, discounted prices are available for pairs and small groups.
- To join the live sessions, you need to use computer or tablet connected to the internet (I recommend at least 10 Mbps) equipped with a camera and a microphone; connecting with a phone is possible in exceptional circumstances, but is not recommended.
- The course fees do not include any examination fees. Enrolment in your exam must be done through your local examinations centre. Ben can provide assistance with this process, but this is your responsibility.
- Homework will be assigned every week. You should try to keep up to date with this, although extensions will be given under special circumstances. Private study is an integral part of the course, and you should be able to commit to doing between 1-2 hours per week.
